The Rosemary Foundation – Emsworth Case Study

Susan lived with her partner and dog, with an extended family living locally. She had an unexpected and devastating diagnosis followed by a rapid deterioration leaving her family in shock and requiring support to manage their feelings and advise in how best to care for their mother in the short time she had left.

Thinking they would not cope, a nursing home was decided as the best place of care by the family. This was not Sue’s wish and not at all ideal as during the Covid pandemic the family would not have been able to visit their Mother very much, if at all.

By supporting the family, providing frequent visits during the day, night sits as possible  and responding to ‘SOS’ calls 24/7  to manage symptoms the family were able to  cope and  be there for Sue with the reassurance and back up they needed.

She died peacefully at home with her family and dog by her side.

After her death her family said

“I don’t think there are any words that can express the gratitude myself and my family have for all of you guys at the Rosemary Foundation. Yesterday my Mum passed away peacefully at home with myself my brother and our Dad as she wanted after being diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer.

Without you it would have been so different, you were there without fail to hold Mum’s hand and make her feel safe when she was scared, to take away her pain and tend to her every need. But you didn’t stop there you even looked after my Dad, my brother, myself and all of our family. In what was a very dark time and place for us all and you made it so much better.

Never have I ever experienced such compassion, to all of you I thank you from the bottom of my heart on behalf of Mum ,myself and our family for everything you done for us you’re all amazing.”
