A group of local golfers have come together for an annual golf charity event held in Petersfield to raise funds for a charity which supports patients dealing with life-limiting illnesses.
The Golden Golfers Challenge (aged 80 or over) is organised annually by inspirational Petersfield resident Ann Donelly and was the second event after last years success.
Players were each given a flag prior to commencing their round and had to stick the flag where their ball last stopped having played ‘half their age’. Following the tournament there were prizes for the winners and a retiring auction with refreshments provided by Cook Petersfield.
Leigh and Anila McDonald who own and run Mcdonald Homecare live-in care agency were so excited and honoured to be able to support this event, as care and golf are very close to their hearts.
Leigh from Mcdonald Homecare said “We started the company three years ago with the sole purpose of introducing wonderful care companions to local elderly clients who want to stay living in their own homes but need daily support and nightly reassurance that someone is always with them. Sport is also a big love in our lives and golf flows through our family with Grandparents, parents and now our son being active members of the Petersfield Golf Club”.
Wendy Smith, Fundraising Manager for The Rosemary Foundation said ‘The Rosemary Foundation are incredibly grateful to Ann Donnelly for organising such a wonderful event, as well as Leigh and his team from McDonald Homecare. Events such as this are so important to us and we cannot continue to provide our Hospice at Home Services, free of charge without the fundraising efforts of our wonderful supporters’
Leigh has also worked alongside the Rosemary Foundation over the years and experienced first-hand the services they provide, “The Rosemary Foundation is such an amazing charity at the heart of Petersfield. Their hospice service supports local people who wish to pass away peacefully in their own home and connects so well to our company values”.
